How to get involved if you are a school or workplace.

Reaching our Food For Families target means we can better support thousands of people who need us most.

If you are a school or workplace, and you want to raise Food For Families you can register now. There are lots of ways to make Food For Families fun for everyone. Host an event or competition, have people bring food instead of gifts and share your stories with us.

This year you can opt to be a drop off point, for individuals and families in the community to bring their food to you!

Last year we raised 40 tonnes of food, but it wasn’t enough to meet the growing demand. By July our pantries were getting low. We need your help.

Register

Register as a school or workplace and pledge how many boxes you think you can fill.

Gather food

We will send you a getting started pack, to help promote your event and advertise Food For Families. Have fun, get creative, let people know about Food For Families and share your stories with us on social media.

Donate

We need food now. Book smaller box collections or drop your donations to Uniting sites anytime before Christmas. When you’re finished, book a final collection or call us to arrange dropping your donation to a Uniting location.

Make your donation count

What families need most is the essentials – the everyday items we often take for granted. It’s important you only donate non-perishable food, so we can store it and safely provide it to families across Victoria and Tasmania.

Please donate:

  • Pasta, rice, gnocchi and noodles
  • Tin tomatoes, pasta sauce, tomato paste
  • Beans and lentils
  • Two-minute noodles and quick meals
  • Tomato and BBQ sauce
  • Toothpaste and toothbrushes
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Bodywash and soap
  • Food and gift vouchers
  • Gift vouchers for children aged 6-16

Don’t forget to:

  • Give non-perishable items
  • Give new or undamaged packaged items
  • Check the expiry date
  • Make sure the food is sealed
  • Make sure the label is visible
  • Leave gifts unwrapped

Peter's story

Peter* has one goal in life – to see his daughter achieve her dreams. But as a single father relying on a pension as his only source of income, Peter has struggled to make ends meet.

Anne's story

Anne had been off work with an injury and used all of her sick leave when she found herself unable to pay her power bill, rent or put food on the table for herself and her son.

Jodie's story

As the mother with two teenage daughters, Jodie had no family close by or friends to rely on when the environment she was living in became abusive and unsafe for her family to stay in.
